Walden University is a regionally accredited online educational institution in Minnesota. Walden was founded in 1970 by two teachers from New York – Bernie and Rita Turner – to cater to the needs of adults in the workforce who wanted to pursue their doctoral degrees. A few years later, in 1979, Walden was licensed to grant Ed.D and Ph.D. degrees. In 1990, Walden was accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
