Gonzaga University is a  catholic jesuit university. Gonzaga University is a good choice for anyone who is looking for education that not just focuses on knowledge, but also on faith. The university was founded by Father Joseph Cataldo, an Italian born missionary, in 1881. To date, it has remained a premier educational institution which offers a lot more than just academic degrees for its students.

You will be surprised to know that Father Joseph Cataldo started Gonzaga in 1881 with just under a thousand dollars. He bought over three hundred acres of land and started a school which was meant for young scholastics who wanted to become priests. It slowly became popular with the locals and grew larger by the year. During the academic year of 1887-88, the university had around 18 boys. Now, it is home to nearly 7000 students – both men and women.

The core curriculum of Gonzaga includes philosophy, religious studies, natural and social sciences, literature, and mathematics. Each and every discipline involves a lot of writing as well. Gonzaga University programs include 92 undergraduate programs and 21 graduate programs. Apart from this, the university also offers some special programs which prepare students for professional schools. These special programs prepare students to join various disciplines like business, education, engineering, law, medicine, dentistry, nursing, veterinary medicine, and theology.

Apart from offering academic programs, Gonzaga University sponsors an Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program which helps students become commissioned officers upon graduating from the university. The university has also joined hands with Bishop White Seminary which is located right next to the university campus. This seminary helps students prepare for the priesthood and to become members of the clergy.

Gonzaga University programs are very diverse in nature. The university is academically categorized into six institutions – College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education, School of Engineering & Applied Science, School of Professional Studies, and School of Law. In these institutions, you can choose to learn anything – right from advertising to accounting, physical education, computer science, choral music, nursing, and many, many other fields. So, no matter what you want to do in your life, you are likely to find a course related to that in this university.

The university also offers study abroad programs for students who like to study from different countries around the world. Gonzaga’s campuses are in Italy, Australia, British West Indies, Costa Rica, China, England, France, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, South Africa, and Spain.
